A newly Colorized 16″x20″ photograph (*see photo no. 0622-1016) of Walter Hagen at the 1919 US Open which he won at Brae Burn Country Club,(Main Course) West Newton, Mass.
Walter Hagen (considered by many to be one of the best match players of all time) won the US Open from 1916-1921, 1926 and 1927, and again in 1931. At this same time, Hagen was the British Open Champion in 1922, 1924, 1928-29 (…the first American to win the British Open). He was also the PGA Champion in 1921, and 1924-27. Five times Walter Hagen was a member of the United States Ryder Cup Team (1927, ’29, ’31, ’33, ’35), and he was Captain of the team nine times (1927, ’29, ’31, ’33, ’35, ’37, ’39, ’41, and 1947). Walter Hagan became a member of the Golf Hall of Fame in 1974.
